Organisation behaviour should be taught differently

OB AS it is taught in MBA classes is too theoretical. It should be skilll based.

Fees for Professional Courses

Fees at College level have gone from being too little about twenty years ago to very high today.

We need to follow activity based costing system to really bring sanity to this area.

Inviting prospective students to experience how life is in an MBA institute

MBA Institute should invite to experience a full day at the institute. This will help them take an informed decision. It is like a trailer. 

Absence as entitlement

I have been teaching a course to second year students of MBA. The rules of the institute require every student to have 80 percent attendance.  Otherwise their grade is dropped by one point.

Some of the students take it that they are entitled to remain absent in 20 percent of the classes. Paradoxically,  they have paid tuition fees for all the classes.  They are not employees. Amusing and irrational behaviour.

Educational Certification should be in the hands of a Body/ Board constituted by Government

AICTE has approved a number of institutions which are providing engineering and business education. Some of these institutions may get closed due to various reasons. What happens to the students who have passed out from such institutions? Active work life of these students will be 30 to 40 years. Their degree is going to lose value. 

Another problem comes in comparing the standards amongst the different institutes. 

To overcome this, there should be a National Board of Engineering Education and another National Board of Management Education which should conduct examinations and award degrees. It should be like Open School and optional. Every student who wants to get the degree from such a board can have it after appearing in the examinations. Institutions can continue to award their own degrees. This will be an additional and equivalent degree which will come quite handy when a student goes abroad as the degree of the board will be easily recognized by the institutions of the other country as well.
